Today, a kid-centric zoological magazine arrived at my house, and SURPRISE! there on the front was my favorite zoo animal.  He’s my fave because he represents all that is good about living in a community or working within a team.  He’s the meerkat.  If you've ever observed them, either in their natural habitat or in a well-managed zoo, you'll notice their constant vigilance. One or more always standing guard, observing, taking turns to ensure the safety of the group.

A few days ago, one of our sisters responded to my original post on Facebook that she loved that I was starting this community effort.  She pointed out very astutely that our younger counterparts in their 20’s-30’s had mastered the art of online community, supporting each other through the struggles that come with their age.  They collaborate on both pregnancy and infertility, raising kiddos through all the stages, negotiating the struggle for life-balance, keeping your sanity navigating the workplace, eating healthy and sharing recipes, and so much more.  But we, the more seasoned ladies, seem to be lacking a similar space. Of course, they will eventually reach this stage and, I'm sure, will be quite adept at navigating it. But must we wait for their arrival to solve our own digital dilemmas? Ha!

Therefore, I extend a heartfelt invitation. Please, join this dialogue. Share your thoughts, your experiences, your resources. You may very well provide the perfect insight, the necessary encouragement, for another sister who is facing a challenge you've already overcome.

I’ll also be very transparent and say your engagement on our social platforms and website is paramount. These digital algorithms, you see, are rather discerning. A simple "like," a share, can significantly impact our visibility. It's akin to the traditional practice of "bringing a friend." We understood the power of collective participation, the enhanced enjoyment of a larger gathering, did we not?

So, come along.  Join the venture from the warmth of your favorite chair and cozy slippers.  Whether you read in the morning with your soothing “cuppa” or in the evening while you try and decompress from the craziness of the day, you are so very welcome in this community.  And we look forward to getting to know you better.

Tell ya what…if you have made it this far in today’s post…please just say how you know me.  It could be a military assignment, our kids went to school together, a church affiliation, high school, we worked together, or… who knows.  And if you and I haven’t met…WELCOME!  Tell us how you found us.  We are thrilled you are joining the community of “Seasoned Ladies.”

We met through church YEARS ago…but you taught me how to sing. My dad sang in a men’s quartet with your husband for a bit. I still love listening to those old videos of them singing.

Jamie: as though I could ever forget the 18 months our families lived near one another and shared sooooo much around music. We still have the quartet plaque the guys gave my hubby when we moved. And I'll never forget taking our high school choir to Tennessee State competition. You all did so well. And I had WAVES of nostalgia when I saw your choir at States this past year. BLESSINGS to have this type of memory and friendship painted throughout the years. Hugs! Thanks for replying!
