Interior design taste throughout the years: A fascinating reflection of one's journey, wouldn't you agree? My own taste has certainly shifted over time. When I first had my newlywed apartment at age twenty-two, I was drawn to Asian influences. While I could only afford a couple burgundy, black and gold lamps and vases, I incorporated that aesthetic as much as my budget allowed.
Later, I explored a "country chic" look with light blue and mauve, followed by a period immersed in "desert southwest," then "Pacific Island Tropical," and subsequently "American Seaside." I'm kinda dizzy reading through the ping-pong of those styles! hahaha!
Today, I've settled comfortably into a style I call "Mediterranean Farmhouse," a blend of Italian and French country sensibilities. I enjoy mixing family antiques with repurposed secondhand pieces and a few carefully selected new acquisitions. It evokes a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that suits both my husband and me.
I'm quite interested to hear about your own home decor preferences. If you're looking for the right words to describe your style, my friend Julie Jones has a helpful Style Quiz on her website. She also has many short videos on social media discussing various styles; the links to her social are at the top of her website.
Please comment below and tell us, what's your home style? Use your own clever description or one you find after taking Julie's quiz. I'm eager to know!
