From One Seasoned Lady to Another: Embrace Your Power, Darling

Guest Writer : Sass'mirelda

Well, honey, let me tell you, there’s a certain kind of magic that sneaks up on us as we get a little older. You know, with each year that passes, we get more... seasoned—and by that, I mean we’ve learned enough to stop putting up with everyone’s nonsense. We’re comfortable in our own skin now, and let me be clear: this is not the time to fade into the background like some wallflower at a high school prom. Oh no, sugar, this is when you bloom, and you bloom big.

When Kim asked me to consider writing to y'all, I was immediately interested. I love the title "Seasoned Ladies." It speaks so well to where I find myself today. Since I'm writing anonymously, I will simply describe my "seasoning flavor profile" as a teaspoon of "Jalapeño Honey." A little sweet, and probably too much peppery personality thrown in at times. Nonetheless I hope to use my voice to encourage you to embrace this season that you are in with gratitude and a good hearty chuckle. Now...back to you! 👇🏽

Maybe you’re venturing into a new chapter of your career, finally chasing those dreams you’ve been putting off, or maybe you’re just ready to live life with a little more gusto. Whatever it is, this stage is bursting with possibilities. But, and this is important—self-care isn’t some cute little luxury. It’s essential. Feed that body of yours like it’s the temple it is, get it moving in a way that brings joy (no, you don’t have to run a marathon unless you really want to), and, for the love of all things holy, let it rest. That body of yours is the foundation of it all—your mood, your energy, that sparkle in your eye.

And sweetie, I don’t care how independent you are, don’t try to do it all alone. You need a tribe of women who make you feel like you can take on the world, friends who clap for you, and communities that remind you just how valuable you really are. Whether it’s a book club, a travel group, or just those long, soul-soothing chats over coffee—keep your people close. Find those who speak your language and celebrate every single step of your journey.

Now, let’s talk about that brain of yours. Keep it sharp, keep it curious. Go ahead, sign up for that class, read that book that’s been gathering dust, or attend that lecture that’s got you intrigued. I promise you, there’s no expiration date on learning. Every new idea is like a spark to a fire waiting to burn.

Most importantly, don’t you dare stop dreaming. Whether it’s a project you’ve been dying to start, that once-in-a-lifetime trip, or giving back in a way that makes your heart sing—now’s the time, sugar. You’ve earned the right to live big, love hard, and go after whatever makes your heart race.

So, here’s to us—those of us who know our worth, walk in confidence, and wear every wrinkle like it’s a crown. The best? Oh honey, it ain’t behind us. It’s right here. And we’re just getting started.
